Bus, truck clashes on the Benin-Auchi highway, Crash leaves 12 people dead


The tragedy hit the Benin-Auchi highway on Saturday morning when 12 passengers were burned to death in an accident that involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a truck.

The commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps sector, Ciril Mathew, who confirmed the accident, said that the accident occurred around 5 in the morning in the IVeleoviobo community, near a army checkpoint on the highway.

According to the Frsc official, the bus, which moved away from Zuba in the territory of the federal capital and was heading towards Benin, collided with a truck coming along the Auchi route.

“The tanks occupying the bus were killed in the accident.

“The accident is probably derived from fatigue, since the driver may have applied, leading to the collision,” he said.
