The only administrator of Rivers State, the deputy admiral IBOK ETE IBAS (RTD), was warned by the Chamber of Representatives not to make any laws for the state of oil.
For members of the lower chamber of the National Assembly, IBAS has no constitutional power to process laws or elaborate a new budget.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended the governor Siminalayi Fubara on March 18 for six months and appointed Ibas as the only administrator.
Ibas will leave the task in September for Fubara.

The vice spokesman for the Chamber, Philip Agbese, said that the speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, was consulting with the leadership of the Chamber to establish a committee to monitor the IBA conduct.
“The only administrator does not have the authority to carry out the function of the national assembly to process the laws in current circumstances. The supervisor of the Chamber is consulting the leadership to establish a committee to supervise the activities of the administrator and ensure that the interests of the state of the rivers are represented.
“Suppose that the president has been informed of our resolution regarding the appointment and mandate of the administrator. If the administrator should overcome his authority, the Chamber will undertake the necessary actions, including the possibility of a vote of any trust, to guarantee responsibility and adhesion to the rule of law”.
