‘Acts of Genocide Plateau Murder, Efforts to Divide Land’ -gov. Mutfwang

The Governor of the State of Plateau, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has described the new attack and murder of the innocent population in the Bokkos Regional Government as “Genocide Actions and Intentional Efforts to impoverish the public and replace them from their ancestral land.”

Governor Mutfwang, who made a statement during an interview on TV Arise on Monday night, condemned the wave of attacks on the council, describing them as without reason and warned the patterns of violence that arose closely related to the agricultural season in the area.

“I will say it with no regret, what happened in the last two weeks in Bokkos is genocide. I say it is unconditional,” Mutfwang emphasized.

Understanding the satire that the attack was politically motivated, the governor said:

“No one gives me a reason to believe that what happens is politically motivated, and if there are suggestions like that, I will be happy to receive such evidence because this is an attack that is not provoked on innocent people, vulnerable people.

“And there has been a pattern for many years, that we found that the beginning of the agricultural season, these attacks usually entered, and then there was a leeway when people succeeded in going to agriculture and farming the remaining small agricultural land and then when the harvest would come, there was another wave of attacks.

“So, it shows us that this is a well-coordinated plan to protect people in the area in eternal poverty.

“There is a possibility that there may be tensions in the past among the people, but I have challenged anyone to tell me who the community is at odds.

“If we know the community that is at odds with other communities, we will be able to intervene and bring the reconciliation process.

“But at this time you deal with facial attackers without facial, and so you only leave it in the fact that this is not motivated and is intended to drive people out of their land, because we have a situation where these things happened before, and when people were expelled from their land for three to five years, there was work.

“And that makes us with advice with an understanding that this is about land grabbing.

“I have people who denied that land grabbing is a motive but we have not found conflicting evidence. These communities have lived in peace with other ethnic nationals, with others from religious persuasion.

“The interesting thing that you will know in the highlands is that many families between religions, and therefore religion is not the problem. I think here we are dealing with some of the strong powers that mobilize these faces and come and release them to these natives.

“And in the end, the indigenous people were left helpless because they never imagined that this kind of attack would occur.”

But Mutfwang promised that despite destruction, his government was determined to ensure the return of peace to the affected community while emphasizing that he was still not affected and determined to find solutions.

“I can’t be overwhelmed. If there is something I encourage to want to explore and find solutions. What can we do better than we have done before?

“How can we mobilize existing assets, spread it more strategically? And other suggestions. We are open to suggestions about possible causes and solutions to what we can use.

“But I can tell you that more than before, I myself, Bokkos people and the state of the highlands are more determined that we will not give up on this attack.

“We will not be defeated. We are frustrated but we will not release this, and we hope that the Federal Government will continue to collaborate with us, cooperate with us to bring the perpetrators to order.

“Like the confirmed Army Chief of Staff, several arrests have been made. They make a useful disclosure for security agencies.

“We will take it from there. For this once, we are determined that people who are found guilty will be prosecuted, and we want to ensure that external forces are not allowed to interfere in this issue.

“We will not allow anyone to interfere with the benefits we have produced for the past year in terms of peace and stability in the state.

“Every Nigerian sings praise from the highlands, that peace has returned, and this violation is a setback for us. We will recover from it, and we will push forward,” he added.
