Concern has continued to grow over Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings following reports of his death circulating on social media, with lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi and comedian Woli Agba reacting to the development.
Olajengbesi, coordinator of the Coalition of Public Interest Lawyers and Defenders (COPA), expressed deep concern over the reports in an Instagram post on Wednesday, appealing for God’s mercy on the singer.
Sharing a photo of Toluwanisings, the lawyer lamented the loss of young lives and called for an end to premature deaths.
“My God! What a life! No, Lord! We beg Your mercy for Toluwanisings,” he wrote.
He added: “I am deeply troubled by the deaths of young men and women. This is not God’s plan for us. Let’s say no to premature death!”
Woli Agba invites to prayer
Meanwhile, comedian Woli Agba has urged people not to give up hope, saying prayers are still ongoing as concerns over the singer continue.
In a message shared on his social media page, the comedian wrote: “Please wait. Please don’t conclude. We trust in God. Please.”
Singer Boyebest also responded to Woli Agba’s message, expressing his faith in God and hope for a positive outcome.
“Yes yes yes. Yes, I have faith in God. Yes. God, you will do this,” he wrote in the comments section.
The reactions came about two hours after news of Toluwanisings’ death began circulating on social media, sparking concern among fans and members of the gospel music community.
The circumstances remain unclear
At the time of filing this report, the circumstances surrounding the reports were unclear and the singer’s death had not been independently confirmed.
The development comes months after Toluwanisings reportedly escaped an accident.
