Bandit has taken over, changed its name to 64 highlands – Gov Mutfwang

The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Muftwang, has regretted the continuous attack in several parts in the state, said that so far, terrorists and bandits have taken over and changed their names to 64 communities.

The governor who raised alarm during the interview at Channels Television’s Politics Today today on Tuesday night, described the attack as a pure genocide and intentional efforts by attackers to reach ancestral land and impoverish the public.

Mutfwang said that even though the attack that had damaged the country was not new because it had experienced a similar incident for more than 10 years but had not gathered national attention, the increasing invasion of the new community and the murder of the indigenous people only showed that the bandits were determined to destabilize the country.

The governor also stressed that attackers were sponsored by foreign influences because they did not speak Nigerian language known when attacking the community.

“If this attack has lasted for almost 10 years, it tells you that there is an intentional and aware effort to clean up the population and to be reopened.

“When I talked to you, there were no less than 64 communities that had been taken over by bandits in the highlands between Bokkos, Barkin Ladi and the Riyom Regional Government.

“They have been taken over, changing their names and living there comfortably on the ground they encourage people to occupy.

“These new communities that have been attacked are part of the community that was attacked in 2023 but they survived and rebuild themselves.

“The Ruwi community who was first attacked lost around 17 people in 2023 but they rose again to show the resilience of people.”

Mutfwang also reiterated his previous attitude that the attackers were sponsored by troops whose purpose was to confuse the country.

“I can tell you in all honesty that I cannot find an explanation other than genocide sponsored by terrorists. The question is, who is the person behind the organizer of this terrorism? This is what should help us to be decomposed.

“We have to get to the point where we know the sponsors because it is not only the work of ordinary people. This is sponsored by a place, and I am sure that in the coming days, security institutions will work together – not on cross -purpose but simultaneously – to be able to issue the necessary intelligence that will help us to put this behind us,” which is stated by the government.
