Police Rescue 17 victims of kidnapping, recover 21 AK-47 rifles in Kaduna

Seventeen victims kidnapped more than a month ago in the state of the Niger were saved by the agents of the anti-kidnapping unit of the State Police Command of Kaduna, working in synergy with the office of the national security consultant.

The victims, including women and children, were saved on Wednesday 10 April in Kaduna, more than five weeks after their kidnapping by Sarkin Pawa, in the state of Niger, on March 3, 2025.

The manager of the public relations of the force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed it in a declaration on Thursday, noting that the rescue operation reflected the police inspector, the commitment of Kayode Egbetokun against the collaborative police led by intelligence and inter-agency.

Among the saved victims there were Williams Ubadia (15), Samuel Ezekiel (15), Duza Ezekiel (13), Ishaku Ishaya (12), Sunday Ezekiel (8), Jessy Friday (6), Rebecca Ezekiel (32), Jummai Ishaya (32), Terriza Friday (30), Alice) Ezekiel (35) (32), Blessing Ezekiel (20), Gloria Ubadia (13), Gift Ubadia (10), Charity Ezekiel (9), Alheri Ishaya (5) and favor Ezekiel (1).

All the victims were brought to the Kaduna police clinic for medical examination and were certified to be stable and solid health.

“In line with the operational directives and the strategic vision of the police general inspector, Kayodo Adeolu Egbetokun, oriented to face violent crimes, dismantling criminal networks and improving public security throughout the country, the Nigeria police recorded significant discoveries significant conduct conducted in the state of Kaduna”, said Adejobi.

In a related operation on the same day, the officers intercepted a Volkswagen Sharan commercial vehicle at the Kawo Central Motor Park in Kaduna.

A vehicle research revealed 21 AK-47 buckets hidden inside.

The suspicion, identified as Jamilu Suleiman, 27, residing in Rafin Guza, Kaduna, has been arrested and is currently in custody.

According to reports, he confessed during the preliminary interrogation that was acting on instructions of an union member to deliver weapons to an unidentified recipient.

The police said that a large -scale investigation began to discover and dismantle the weapon trafficking network.

In another development, the Kaduna State Police Command foiled an armed robbery operation at the Dogwi Farm along the Kaduna – Abuja highway on 9 April.

By acting in a rescue call around 5:00, a TAFA division team involved a band of about 30 thieves armed in a battle for weapons.

Two of the suspicions were killed on the scene, while two others were arrested with injuries. One of the suspicions injured later died in the hospital, while the other is currently helping police investigations.

Adejobi added that efforts were underway to arrest the members on the run of the band and guarantee justice.
