Minister of former Plain Affairs, Adamu Waziri, challenged the PDP to re -position before the 2027 election

A former Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, on Friday called for an urgent reposition from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Waziri made a call in Potiskum, Yobe shortly after speaking to party members throughout the state.

He said the call was important for the party to reclaim its place as a leading Nigerian opposition platform ahead of the 2027 general election.

Waziri said that PDP faced serious leadership challenges, which influenced its capacity to carry out its constitutional role as an opposition party.

He said: “The Democratic Party of the people is going through many trials and misery.

“We have leadership problems and the party needs to be reposed to play its role as a leading opposition, especially to overcome the problems that befall Nigeria, in 2027.”

The former minister stated that democracy could not develop without eager opposition, adding that PDP had “failed sadly” in providing the platforms needed to provide assistance to citizens.

He, however, eliminated the rumors that he had defected to the Congress of All Progressive (APC).

“I have come to my people to eliminate the rumors that I have defected to APC. That’s not true,” he said.

Waziri explained that while he was actively involved in the ongoing coalition and mergers among political actors, his participation was not in official capacity.

“I am very involved in the conversation of coalitions and mergers involving members of the PDP, APC, Labor Party and other political groups who try to build a strong political platform that can provide credible candidates in 2027.

“But I am not in the conversation representing PDP. I am there as a Nigerian, a Democrats with rights that cannot be revoked to link and express my views,” the former minister clarified.
