Benjamin Tanimu pays tribute to fallen Air Force officers after Tanzania League goal

Super Eagles defender Benjamin Tanimu has honored the Nigerian Air Force officers who died in the NAF931 plane crash by dedicating his goal and Man of the Match award to the fallen servicemen.

Tanimu put in an impressive performance on Friday night, scoring in the 44th minute to help his team pick up a valuable point away against Dodoma Jiji FC in the Tanzania League Matchday 7 fixture.

The Nigerian defender’s contribution proved crucial as his team achieved a positive result away from home, and his individual performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

However, beyond his achievements on the field of play, Tanimu took the opportunity to pay tribute to the officers who lost their lives serving the country.

In a post on his official X account after the match, the Super Eagles defender called the achievement a special moment before dedicating his goal and award to the deceased officials.

“I dedicate this goal and award to my dear friends who DID THEIR DUTY while serving our Country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Tanimu wrote.

He concluded his message with an emotional farewell to the fallen heroes, writing: “REST WELL, BRAVE HEROES!”

Tanimu’s tribute brought a deeply personal touch to his contribution to the match’s victory, turning a moment of football recognition into an opportunity to honor the memory of Nigerian military personnel who lost their lives in the service of the nation.
