“Everyone is ready to go”: Sand Eagles captain Victor Tale declares readiness for crucial showdown in Ghana

The captain of the Nigerian national beach soccer team, Victor Tale, has declared that the Sand Eagles are ready for their crucial match. African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ghana, insisting that the players are responding positively to the intense preparations ahead of the showdown in West Africa.

The Sand Eagles are scheduled to host the Black Sharks of Ghana in Kaduna on Saturday, October 10, in the first leg of their qualifying tie, before traveling to Accra for the second leg on October 17.

Tale expressed his satisfaction with the team’s preparation and praised the coaching team for their commitment and the players for accepting the training programme.

“The coaches are doing the best they can and we, the players, are cooperating with the coaches. With all the training they have given us, we know we will come out better,” Tale said.

The experienced captain highlighted that the players have maintained a high level of commitment throughout their preparation, with everyone determined to achieve a positive result against their regional rivals.

“We are all one hundred percent fine and we do every training session that the coaches give us and they are happy,” he explained.

The captain, who plays for Kada Beach Soccer Club, is part of the 20-man squad assembled in Kaduna where the team has been conducting tactical and technical exercises under the guidance of coach Christopher Kadiri.

Nigeria are seeking a return to the continental finals after narrowly missing out on qualification in 2024, when Mauritania eliminated the Sand Eagles on the away goals rule.

Ghana has also stepped up preparations, with the Black Sharks leaving Accra for Nigeria on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s match.

Tale believes the work done in the camp has given the players the confidence to compete against their West African rivals.

“Everyone is ready to go,” declared the captain.

With a place at the 2026 African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations in Senegal at stake, Nigeria will be determined to establish a lead ahead of the second leg in Ghana.

For Tale, the message ahead of Saturday’s clash is clear: the Sand Eagles have put in the effort, accepted the coaches’ instructions and are ready to translate their preparations into a result against Ghana.
