2027: PDP Govs Reject Coalition, says Ude-Okoye as a National Sec-Thage

The forum of the democratic governors of the peoples rejected the planned merger or the coalition of opposition parties against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in view of the general elections of 2027.

The president of the forum and the governor of the state of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, said this position on Monday, at the end of a two -day meeting of the governors held in Ibadan, in Oyo’s state. The forum also said S. K Ude-Okoye as national secretary, actually bringing Samuel Anyanwu’s mandate.

Before the presidential elections of 2027, the leaders of the opposition parties, in particular the former vice-president Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the 2023 of the Labor Party, Peter Obi, and the former governor of Kaduna, Nasir El-Romai, have prohibited for a formidable coalition that will challenge the APC.

But speaking in a press release from Mohammed, the forum said that the governors of the PDP “will not join any coalition or merger”.

They underlined that the PDP, as a large opposition party, “welcomes any party, people or groups who are willing to join the party in order to Wrestling Power and to encourage good leadership in 2027”.

Governors also expressed solidarity with Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended governor of the state of sparrows.

“We reduce our commitment to be with him until the end among the challenges posed by the declaration of a state of emergency in his state,” they said.

By complaining about the growing insecurity in the country, the forum requested a “revision and reorientation of priorities and strategies” to contrast the insurgents and terrorist groups.

They condemned recent attacks in the state of the plateau, affirming: “We extend our condolences to the government and the people of the state, in particular those who lost their lives and ownership during this unfortunate accident”.

The meeting was attended by Bala Mohammed by Bauchi, Peter Mbah of Enugu, Agbu Kefas from Taraba, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Seyi Makinde di Oyo, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Umaru Fingi of Adamawa, Ademola Adeleke of Osun and Dubye Diri di Bayelsa. The governors of the Sheriffo Oborevwori of Delta and Umo Eno di Akwa Ibom were represented by their deputies.
