The Dr. Yusuf John Suberu Foundation congratulated the Federal Government of Nigeria for winning the prestigious Kofi Annan Road Safety prize.
According to a declaration made available to journalists, Nigeria received the prize during a recent ceremony held in Eswatini.
He said that dr. Yusuf John Suberu, founder of Dr. Yusuf John Suberu Foundation, was present and had the privilege of meeting with the main parties concerned, including the transport ministers from Cameroon and Eswatini, and John Todd, Envoy of the United Nations on road safety.
According to the declaration, the result underlines Nigeria’s commitment to reduce road accidents and promote safety, aligning itself with the mission of the foundation to enhance communities and encourage positive change.
“As an organization dedicated to supporting national and regional initiatives, the Dr. Yusuf John Suberu Foundation is proud to be part of this journey to a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
“The work of the Foundation in the reduction of poverty, in education and health has positively influenced over 5,000 people in the last year, with plans to equip 500 young people in the federal capital territory with different skills to encourage financial independence and self -employment,” he said.
The declaration observed that the prize acts as a testimony of the impact of collective efforts in guiding a significant change.
“We praise the federal government of Nigeria for this considerable result and reaffirm our commitment to support the initiatives that promote road safety, the reduction of poverty and sustainable development,” said Suberu.
