The former Nigerian football speed star, Lucky Sunday Nkeki, has officially joined the Congress All Progressives (APC). Speaking at a meeting of the parties interested in Agbor, Nkeki accredited his decision on the leadership and support of the president of the NDDC, the Hon. Chiedu ebie.

He expressed gratitude to the Democratic Party People (PDP) for the opportunities he gave him during his time with the party, stating that he had made his best and is now ready to go on.

In a sincere reflection on his football career, Coach Lucky told how he started earning a salary as a footballer in 1986 while he was still in class 3 in secondary school. His professional journey began with Sun Insurance FC in Lagos, followed by periods at M&G, Arab Bank and ACB FC, where he played under the coach Gideon Njokwu. His career later took him to Vasco from Gama to Enugu under the coach David Adiele, and then to Prime Minister Breweries, Vip Fc and Railway FC in Lagos. In 1996, he ventured abroad to play for Bidvest of South Africa, a first division club, before returning to Nigeria to play-and finally Gboko’s captain-BCC with the deceased coach Sebastian Brodericks Imesuen.

After his retirement from professional football, Coach Lucky went to coaching, starting from Lagos before returning to the state of the Delta to contribute to the development of basic football. Known for his dedication to nourish young talents and promote the game locally, his transition to active policy marks a new chapter on his service and leadership trip.

He also praised his head Godwin Ogadi for investing personal resources in the delta state and fired the critics who labeled him as poor. Nkeki highlighted his successes, stating that he never asked for help and received significant support from Hon. Ebie in the construction of his home.

Nkeki stressed that Delta State belongs to everyone – not only a single family – and expressed the trust that the APC will win the 2027 elections in the state.
