Daga had previously been sentenced to six months in prison by Romsdal District Court after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman. The lower court also ordered him to pay 10,000 Norwegian crowns in legal costs.

However, the Court of Appeal overturned that conviction and acquitted the Nigerian midfielder of the charge.

“The club recognizes that this has been a serious and stressful matter for all those affected,” the club further stated.

“Since the accusation was brought, Molde FK has carried out continuous evaluations based on the situation and the responsibility of the club as an employer. Now that the Court of Appeal has received the verdict and Daniel Daga has been acquitted, we as an employer consider that Daniel will be available to play for Molde FK in the future.
