The Kano State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has taken disciplinary actions against two Court Registration and two judges of the Shari’a court for bad conduct.

The spokesman for the state judiciary of Kano, Baba Jibo-Ibrahim, made this known in a declaration issued on Monday 28 April 2025.

Jibo-Ibrahim said that the decision was part of the resolutions reached at the 80th meeting of the JSC which was held on April 22nd.

He said that the Commission, in line with his mandate, adopted the recommendations of the investigations conducted by the Committee for the public judiciary complaints (JPCC) and decided to suspend and issue formal warnings to them.

Those suspended are Ibrahim Adamu, main register II of the upper court of Kano; and Maigida Lawan, the main register of the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Other warnings issued are the judges of the Sharia Alcali Court Mansur Ibrahim and Nasiru Ahmad.

Jibo-Ibrahim said Adamu was suspended without pay for six months.

He added: “His promotion is deferred after a discovery that confirmed that he verbally attacked and attempted to use physical strength against his superior officer, for a serious badness conducted in violation of the provisions of the rules of the civil service of the state of Kano 2004 and JSC regulations.

“This is the second time that Adamu appeared in front of an Investigation Committee for actions related to violence at work and a series of questions was published.”

Jibo-Ibrahim observed that the commission discovered that Adamu’s actions were seriously disconcerting his office and imposed the appropriate disciplinary sanctions.

He said Lawan was suspended without remuneration for six months, after being declared guilty of having requested and accepted improper gratification based on false claims.

“The Commission adopted the JPCC and Lawan recommendation was relegated to a level level (from GL-13 to GL-12),” said the commission spokesman.

He said the commission issued a warning for Mansur Ibrahim, after the tests confirmed that they had used an offensive and offensive language against a dispute.

Jibo-Ibrahim said that JSC also issued a formal warning to Nasiru Ahmad for ordering the possession of a judgment debtor in a way that suggested personal and judicial impartiality compromised.

Therefore, he reaffirmed JSC’s zero tolerance policy against the misconduct and corruption, saying: “These measures underline the commitment of the State Commission for responsibility, transparency and rule of law.

“To all bailiffs and the staff is remembered to behave in a way that reflects the honor and trust acquired by them by the people of the State of Kano”.
