In a major step aimed at redefining the provision of public services, the Nigeria POS service (Nipost) has announced that it will stop all cash payments at post office counting throughout the country starting July 1, 2025.
This marks a significant axis in the ongoing agency reform to harmonize itself with the developing Nigerian digital economy and the best global practice.
According to a statement released Monday by Franklin Alao, Director of Corporate Communication in Nipost, the transition to the system without cash is entirely the main component of the Agency Reformation Blue Profile, correctly entitled “Changes in Hope Hope Berths at Nipost Shores.”
“This is an important step in our modernization journey, which ensures safer, faster, and more transparent service delivery,” Alao said. “All payments for services must now be made through approved electronic channels.”

Outside of modernization, the shift speaks for a broader national purpose. By embracing digital transactions, Nipost not only increases operational efficiency but also supports the new hope agenda of the President of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritizes transparency, innovation, and good governance in all public institutions.
Alao further notes that the agency will introduce a performance -based prize system to provide incentives to staff while tightening internal controls to promote customer integrity and trust.
Internally, this step indicates a cultural shift. Under the leadership of the Head of the Tola Odeyemi Post Office and the newly appointed Chairperson of the Council Isaac Kekemeke, Nipost worked to position himself as an organization that was driven by technology and advanced thinking.
Postal services also give appreciation to Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, for his unwavering support in fighting for this new direction.
