U20 AFCON – Flying Eagles Force Kenia to draw in front of Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle

The Nigeria U20 team assured its passage to the next round of the CAF U20 AFCON in progress with a hard draw 2-2 against Kenya in its final game, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.

Kenya took an early advantage when Nigerian defender Emmanuel Chukwu handled the ball in the box and after a revision of Var a penalty was awarded, which Kévin Wangaya Injehu converted after six minutes.

His advantage lasted only eight minutes with Kparobo Arierhi leveling with a good finish after Simon Cletus’s good job, since his well weighted pass met with the striker with the easiest finishes in the box.

Nigeria could not build on the impulse of the drawing level and soon stayed behind when a William Gitamu unmarked was stolen in the distant post to stab a well delivered free kick home. Once again, Nigeria responded this time from the place with Captain Daniel Bameyi sending the goalkeeper in the wrong way.

Bameyi took a step to send the spot kick granted to Nigeria after a foul on the substitute Rickson Mendous. The game ended at a dead point, but also assured Nigeria’s passage to the next round, since they finished second behind the winners of the Morocco group.

The head of the national senior team of Nigeria Eric Chelle was one of the spectators who saw the game after his arrival in Egypt yesterday.
