Taiwo Awoniyi for an induced coma after potential surgery

The Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, is now out of an induced coma and is constantly recovering after emergency surgery due to a severe abdominal lesion that was described as potentially deadly.

According to BBC Sport, Awoniyi underwent an intensive and complex medical procedure earlier this week and was placed under close observation in intensive care on Wednesday night.

Fortunately, surgery was successfully completed, and Nottingham forest striker is now awake and recovering in the hospital, surrounded by his family.

Awoniyi underwent surgery for the first time on Monday, after which he was placed in a coma induced on Tuesday to help medical professionals to monitor their progress.

The second phase of the operation, which involved closing the wound, took place on Wednesday.

Forest is expected to set an internal review of the incident, particularly with respect to previous events and after the lesion.

The striker suffered the injury during a recent Premier League match after a collision that required prolonged treatment in the field.

Despite showing clear signs of anguish, Awoniyi told the medical staff that he could continue playing.

However, it was not long before it became evident that the striker was still affected by the injury that raised concerns about the decision to continue.

With chief coach Nuno Espírito Santo after having used all the substitutions available at that time, Awoniyi remained in the field.

The forests are now eager to understand exactly what happened and if the correct procedures were followed to handle the injury.

The club is also expected to review broader security protocols to avoid similar incidents in the future.

The situation has revived debates around IFAB guidelines, particularly the rule that requires that the assistant referees delay the elevation of the flag from outside when there is a possible goal of goal.

Critics argue that this policy can put players at an unnecessary risk, especially in high -speed situations.

According to reports, Awoniyi’s condition is stable, and his recovery is progressing well.
