Army Re -Action Theft of oil theft intensified, the arrest of 38 suspects, destroyed 28 illegal refineries throughout the Delta Niger

In the operation to sweep the theft of crude oil and illegal purification activities, the 6 Nigerian Army Division troops have arrested 38 suspects and dismantled 28 illegal refineries throughout the Niger Delta.

The intensive six -day joint operation, which took place from 12 to 18 May, also caused confiscation of more than 700,000 liters of stolen oil products and the destruction of many locally made ships used in prohibited oil activities.

This was revealed in a statement on Sunday by the Deputy Director of Acting, Army Community Relations for 6 Divisions, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Danjuma, who highlighted collaboration between the Army and other security institutions in curbing oil -related crimes in the region.

“The 6 -division troops, the Nigerian Army in relation to other security institutions have intensified a strong action against theft of crude oil and related crimes in all regions of Delta Niger,” the statement said.

“Operations, carried out between 12 and 18 May 2025 caused the arrest of 38 alleged oil thieves, the deactivation of 28 illegal purification locations, several ships made locally used for crushed crime, with more than 700,000 liters of stolen products that were restored throughout the Delta Niger region.”

At the Rivers State, significant progress made around Okolomade, Orashi, and Ozochi Forest, where the troops reveal the connection of illegal pipes directly attached to the head of the well in the Ozochi forest. Follow-up operations reveal the massive cache of illegal products:

“The troops found more than 200 sacks of automotive gasoline oil that were illegally enhanced with more than 300,000 liters of stolen crude oil in cooking oven, and 300,000 liters were stolen and then confiscated.

In addition, the intercepted troops used to suck stolen oil across the distance. Three suspects were arrested at the location.

In another successful operation, intelligence brought soldiers to Alode Junction in Eleme, where a truck carrying the registration number of Lagos LSR 546 YH and LND 974 XD was found carrying more than 45,000 liters of stolen ago. At the Obiashor Forest, five suspects were arrested for establishing a new illegal bunkering camp.

“In addition, the troops found a local reservoir made, located 300 meters from the head of the well left with more than 25,000 liters of stolen crude oil,” Danjuma said.

“In the Olughighi area, a wooden boat that was loaded with more than 10,000 liters of stolen crude oil hidden in the river was demobilized.”

The IMO river area is also combed, resulting in demolition of seven illegal purification locations, along with 31 drum pots, 10 recipients, 38 sacks, and more than 7,000 liters of stolen products found.

In Ahoada East Lga, stinging surgery in emergency accommodation in the Amahasa community found more than 50 sacks of illegal fine oil, estimated at 2,500 liters.

In the state of Bayelsa, the troops closed the illegal purification location in Biseni in Yenagoa LGA which contains six ovens, recipients, and more than 2,000 liters of stolen products. At Isonogbene Creek in South Ijaw, another refinery is deactivated, with 1,500 liters of crude oil found in the reservoir.

The operation was expanded to the Delta State, where the army entered Ughoton children in Warri South Lga and destroyed three active artisanal refineries. The team recovered sacks and six drums with more than 3,600 liters of crude oil and then.

“At the Olomoro Wellhead 3 stream in Isoko South Lga, the troops intercepted a truck with the registration number of Mus 948 XN which was loaded with crude oil near the flow station. The driver was captured and interrogated accordingly,” said the army.

In the state of Akwa Ibom, the troops intercepted the minibus on Jalan Abak -Ikot Abasi in Abak Lga. The vehicle, the BMT 459 XA bearing plate number, is loaded with more than 1,170 liters that are illegally enhanced which are stored in a nylon bag. The driver is currently detained.

Speaking during the assessment tour on the spot, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, praised troops and urged them to maintain professionalism and momentum in the campaign.

He assured them, saying their welfare remains a top priority.
