One person died, three trapped in the collapse of the Lagos building

One person was confirmed dead while three others were still trapped in a collapsed building in the Ikorodu area in the state of Lagos on Tuesday.

Permanent Secretary at Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (Lasema), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, revealed this in a statement in Ikeja.

He said: “Following the anniversary of difficulty at 14:02, Lasema activated the country’s emergency response plan from Agbowa and Alausa.

“After the arrival of the agency response team at 2:40 pm, it was found that a two-story building undergoing construction had collapsed, with three victims trapped under the debris at the location mentioned above.

“The cause of the collapsed building has not been ascertained.

“Three people were reportedly trapped while nine adult men have been rescued and attended by the Lasema Hospital Pre-Hospital Care Unit.

“Security steps are activated with an operational area that is closed at the scene.”
