The professionals of animal production under the auspices of the Nigerian Society for animal Production (NSAP) invited the Ministry of Development of livestock to establish research institutes on cattle based on species in the six geopolitical areas of Nigeria.
The call was made during the 50th National Conference held at the Federal University of Lafia, in the state of Nasarawa, according to a note.
NSAP has observed that cattle research institutes should be supported with a regular interaction through seminars based on the community and conferences with researchers, political managers and producers as part of their basic mandate.

The conference that was declared open by the university vice-changing, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, had the theme: “Exploring transformations into animal agriculture for food safety, the creation of wealth and economic growth”.
In a press release jointly signed by the president, Professor Olaniyi Babayemi and the secretary, Dr. Folasade Jemiseye, NSAP also underlined the need to adopt technological innovation, political support and the improvement of actions with the combination of selection of modern diseases for the genetic measures of today.
The press release added: “In addition, precision power strategies including total mixed ration (TMR), the use of alternative feed resources, the prevention of diseases and the health innovations of animals such as rapid diagnostic kits, vaccines and the administration of precision drugs, strengthening of local vaccines and animal health extension services should be adopted by Stakeholder to improve growth rates, egg production and milk.
“The agriculture of the smart climate cattle should be promoted and policy should be established to encourage the local production of equipment/research structures and the acquisition of digital monitoring tools through subsidies and tax exemption on research equipment for an effective agricultural management.
“The interested parties for the interested parties should be put in place a agri -food solution, the digital solution and the training based on the skills for young people to reach the cattle transformation agenda.”
