While commentators continue to praise the giants of Nigerian football, a lanky teenager from Young Stars FC in Satellite Town, Lagos, has joined the squad.
Sports247 reports that Prince Anyadike is the newest candidate in the class of lanky Nigerian hitmen, currently led by Tolu Arokodare and Paul Onuachu, but the latest revelation appears to be the tallest of them all, albeit still at the grassroots.
Incidentally, Anyadike currently plays for the same club that produced Onuachu and although he considers the Super Eagles star an inspiration, the leggy attacker revealed that he is actually taller than the Turkish Trabzonspor forward.
Anyadike, who grew up in Onitsha where he attended Cristo De Inmaculada School (CDIS) and played football only on the streets, said he is happy to follow the same footsteps that Onuachu followed and hopes to have the same success as the dark-skinned icon.
“I’m happy to play for the same club that produced Onuachu. People always compare me to him, but I always tell them that I’m taller than him.
Anyadike revealed: “He is 6’7″, but I am 6’8” and I am still growing. Some people say I should be a basketball player, but I prefer this football which I have already chosen and I want to be successful in it.
“I admire Onuachu, Victor Osimhen and Erling Haaland. That’s why I combine a bit of their skills with mine so I can play better and I thank my agent, Mr. Tomiwa, for bringing me to Young Stars.
“I always try to work hard to make him proud of me. I also thank my teammates for supporting me as I continue to grow in the game, as well as Coach Hyginus Okoye, who is now leading us after the death of our mentor, Coach Osahon. May his soul rest in peace.”
