A retirement army, Joe Ajayi, who was kidnapped in his residence in the ape-ape, the area of ​​the local government of Kabba-Bunu in the state of Kogi a few weeks ago, died in the lair of the kidnappers despite a redemption of N10 million paid for his rescue.

Major Ajayi was kidnapped on Wednesday 21 May 2025, by his residence around 11:30 pm by armed men who shot sporadically.

Our correspondent has collected that the initial requests of N50 million redemption from the kidnappers lingered for a long time when the family could not pay; This led to the deterioration of his health, since he had no means to obtain his medicines.

It has been collected that the kidnappers informed the family that their reason for his drugs to be submitted to him will have an additional cost, a concession that could not be satisfied with the family.

However, as soon as the kidnappers discovered that Ajayi could not survive, they reduce the ransom to ₦ 10 million naira.

A source of the community said that the Ajayi family, believing that she is still alive, quickly agreed to pay the ten million Naira for her rescue.

“As the redemption was paid, the kidnappers said the family towards where they would find him, just for them to meet his (Ajayi) lifeless body.”

The remains of the retired army officer were deposited at the Kabba Specialist Hospital Mortavey.

The kidnapping has increased in the state for some time, with the kidnapping of a first -class monarch, Oba James Dada Ogunyanda, Oke Okolake in the area of ​​the Western local government of Yagba, which was kidnapped from his home in early May. It still has to be released.

However, the Governor of the State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who spoke in the ground Eid Last Sallah of Oraene, appealed to residents to stay calm, since the efforts to free the criminal elements from the state are already producing positive interest.
