The first millennial Saint Carlo Acutis will be canonized on September 7 …- Theconclaveng

Friday, Pope Leo XIV set on September 7 as a reprogrammed date to canonize the first San Carlo Acutis of the Millennial Church.

Leo made the announcement during a meeting of Cardinals, known as Constoro, to set up the dates for a handful of new saints.

The canonization of Acutis was originally scheduled for April 27, but was postponed after the death of Pope Francis on April 21.

Acutis was 15 years old when he died in northern Italy in 2006, after a short meeting with leukemia.

He has become enormously popular especially among the young Catholics who crowded his tomb in Assisi.

While he loved regular pastures for his age – excursions, video games and joking with friends – he also taught catechism in a local parish and made the homeless sensitize.

He used his computer skills to create an online exhibition of over 100 Eucharistic miracles recognized by the Church over many centuries.

His tomb in Assisi has become a pilgrimage site especially during the Holy Year of 2025 in progress.

It is equipped with a glass coffin in which Acutis can be seen dressed with sneakers, jeans and a sweatshirt,

In establishing the date of September 7, Leo announced that Acutis would be canonized together with another Italian Catholic, Pier Giorgio Frassati, who also died young at the age of 24 after contracting the poliomielite. [AP]
