Digital Parks Africa, a South African technology company, has announced plans to develop a new data center in Lagos, Nigeria, as part of its expansion into West Africa.
The planned facility, known as Nigeria Data Center 1 (NDC1), is being developed in partnership with Master Power Technologies Group. It is expected to provide digital infrastructure for businesses, financial institutions, banks, cloud providers and connectivity companies.
The announcement was made in Nigeria on Monday, September 21, 2026. The project itself was announced in early September during the ITW Africa event in Kenya.
Digital Parks Africa says the facility will be an operator-neutral data centre. In simple terms, this means customers and network providers will have more flexibility in choosing how they connect to facilities.
Data centers are important because they store and process large amounts of digital information. Many online services that people use every day, including banking, cloud services, websites, and business applications, depend on data center infrastructure.

The company said the new facility in Lagos will help provide digital services closer to businesses and other organizations that require reliable technology infrastructure.
Digital Parks Africa has not announced the exact cost of the project, planned capacity or completion date for the facility. His party has also not announced the exact location of the facility in Lagos.
The company also said it has engaged the Uptime Institute to assess the completed facility for possible Tier IV certification. However, this certification has not been provided. The facility must be constructed and assessed before the certification can be confirmed.
The project comes at a time when demand for digital services and data infrastructure is increasing in Nigeria. More businesses are using cloud computing, online payments and other digital platforms, increasing the need for reliable facilities to store and process data.
Therefore, the planned data center is expected to be part of the growing data center industry in Lagos and Nigeria.
The Lagos project shows growing interest in Nigeria’s technology infrastructure and the growing importance of data centers to the country’s digital economy.
