The Rotary Club of Ikeja-Alausa Central, on the weekend, attended the emergence of its fifth president, Rotarian Moses Oyewale Oyelami, who will officially take the office on July 1, 2025 He had managed the club’s business from 1 July 2024.
At the delivery ceremony, to which the Governor-nomine of the Rotary International District 9112 was attended, Rotarian Layi Abidoye and other district leaders, Akintunde made the administrator of his team for the rotary year 2024-2025. These included growing adhesion, service projects, strengthening of the members of the members, establishing an advisory body known as the League of Past Presidents and prizes for exceptional club members.
One of the salient moments of the event was the emergence of the current vice -president of the club, Rotarian Busayo Akomolafe as a member of the year. In order to encourage members to excel in their service to the club, Akintunde introduced a prize member of the month, which was determined at his discretion. Every month, the recipient received a gift in cash of N20.000, which is brought by the president.
The winners of the member award of the month included the club’s treasurer, Rotarian Modpe Adremi-Bello (July 2024); The Rotary Foundation Chair, former president (Dr.) Adbukunola Soile-Balogun (August 2024); Akomolafe (September 2024); Club administrator, Rotarian Oluwabunmi Akinde (November 2024); and public image chair, Rotarian Samuel Akinpelu (December 2024).
Others were: Rotarian Ayola Salaudeen (February 2025); Oyelami (March 2025); Conference and President of the Convention, Rotarian Idowu Olawoyin (April 2025); and president of belonging, Rotarian Isaac Vincent (May 2025).
Akintunde explained that Akomolafe distinguished himself during the rotating year 2024/2025 offering a total commitment for the club and ensuring that his ship was established every time there were turbulent.
Honored also for an exemplary service there were the assistant governor of the club, Rotarian Ibraheem Lateef Adebayo, which the president described as a “god-god” to the club; and the president of the paper, Rotariano (Arco) Deji Shonuga.
Akomolafe stole the show when he asked that a gift was presented to the outgoing president for the mature way he administered the club during the year. He described Akintunde as a gift to the club that entered the office at the most worrying moment, but was able to bring together the members to work for a common goal.
In his speech by Valenza, Akintunde thanked the members and other parties interested for ensuring that the club was favorable during the outgoing year and supporting him in the execution of projects that touched their lives.
He said that the club’s growth produced results with seven members on board, while there are indications that the president arriving and his team would have beaten that number in the rotary year of 2025/2026.
On the League of previous presidents, who was launched during the celebration of the fourth anniversary of the club on March 23, this year, Akintunde said that he would have played his role of consultancy to the president sitting to tame possible conflicts and allow a friendly atmosphere in the club.
He said he was confident that the president arriving would raise the highest level. Adding: ‘With the commitment and energy that our president arriving, RTN. (Engr.) Moses Oyewale Oyelami has exposed, I am confident that our club is in safe hands. For example, it has marked high on the inclusion by positioning many of our new members in strategic wallets for the next rotating year. Together, we will have a club that will not only meet the expectations of our members, but will also be in a good position to compete for the laurels.
Oyelami, the president coming, promised his commitment to the ideals of Rotary and the fulfillment of the club’s objectives. “” Service over oneself “, which is the motto of Rotary, will guide all my activities,” he assured.
