APC clarifies Tinubu’s support without shettima in the middle of the rumor of the intra-party gap

In the midst of increasing speculation on the possibility of cracks in all the progressive Congress (APC), Deputy Chairperson of the Party (Northeast), Mustapha Salihu, has clarified why Kashim Shettima Vice President was not included in the official support of Bola President Ahmed Tinubu during Summit Northe-East which was held on Sunday in Gombe.

Negligence, which produces large enough rumors in all political and social media circles, is interpreted by several people as a signal of division. However, Salihu, talking about today’s politics, a television program channel, on Monday, described the reaction as a misreading of the political convention and party procedures.

“In my full speech, the last paragraph before ratification, I praised Kashim Shettima, recognized him as our son and declared that we supported him as people in the northeast,” said Salihu. “I also appreciate the national security advisor as our son, which we are proud of, and recognize all ministers and the parastatal given to native natives of the northeast, thank Aswaju [Tinubu] For this reason, before calling for his support as the only presidential candidate. “

According to Salihu, the removal of the name of the Shettima from intentional and procedural formal support, is based on the party’s constitutional framework. In the main stage, he explained, the party only supported one candidate per executive position such as the president or governor. The selection of the ongoing couple, he added, came only after a candidate officially appeared.

“In party politics, we only have one ticket at the main stage for the executive chairman, the head of the local government, the governor, and the president,” he said. “There are no provisions in our constitution that allows joint ticket ratification at that level. Only after the preliminary election, when a candidate appears, he chose a running partner. The choice remains the constitutional prerogative of the presidential candidate, even though consultation can occur.”

Salihu showed that the governors from the northeast, Mai Mai Buni Yobe and Inuwa Yahaya from Gombe, also only supported President Tinubu for the Summit. However, like him, they paid tribute to Vice President Shettima as a respected son in the region. “We all recognize it warmly, but support is a technical process,” he explained.

Overcoming the rumors that the step implies an internal conflict between Tinubu and Shettima, Salihu rejects speculation such as the work of “conflict entrepreneurs.”

“The administration of a party is not carried out on social media, newspapers, or television. This is handled internally,” he said firmly. “These types of rumors cannot be avoided in every administration, people will always try to suggest friction between the principal and badness. That is what develops by unsafe politicians. But if you are safe in yourself, you should not be disturbed by such noise.”

On the possibility that the negligence might have driven dissatisfaction in the region, Salihu said his direct involvement with party members in the northeast suggested the opposite. “Anyone who says that dissatisfaction is wrong,” he said. “I am in Yola. I have been engaged to members of Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, and Yobe. We all stayed up late at night before doing the peak brainstorming.”

He further explained that the region consistently showed loyalty to President Tinubu and Shettima Vice President and that suggested conditions or encouraging Shettima support at this stage would be inappropriate and unwanted politically. “We do not have a vice presidential ticket to be offered; there is only one ticket. Supporting Tinubu with conditions will be inappropriate,” he said.
