The Israeli military on Tuesday confirmed the murder of Ali Shadmani, Chief of Staff during the Iranian war and one of the most senior military figures in the country.
Shadmani was killed in an air strike overnight at the command center in Central Tehran.
The military said in a statement that the strike was carried out by the Israeli Air Force following the “appropriate intelligence and a sudden opportunity.”
Shadmani was described by the Israeli military as the main operational commander of the Iranian armed forces and close colleagues of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He has ordered the Corps of Guarding the Islamic Revolution and Iranian Army.
He was appointed to lead the Iranian armed forces at the beginning of the ongoing five -day war after Israel killed its predecessor, Alaa Ali Rashid, in the previous strike that began the current battle.
“The killing of Shadmani added a series of elimination targeting Iran’s most senior military leadership and disturbing the chain of command,” the Israeli military added.
