Swan condemns the exclusion from Loc of the 23rd National Sports Festival

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Swan), the South -East area, the chapter of the state of Enugu and the national body want to express a serious concern for the inauguration of the local organizing committee (Loc) for the 23rd National Sports Festival (NSF), which is held today, on June 18, 2025, in Enugu, without the inclusion of any SWAN member.

This exclusion is not only unfortunate but completely unacceptable. As a critical stakeholders in the promotion, organization and development of sport in Nigeria, Swan plays an essential role in guaranteeing effective media coverage, a public commitment and strategic communication: key components in the successful execution of any great sporting event.

Speaking on behalf of the Association, the vice president of the Swan South East Zone, Ikemefuna Asika, and the zonal secretary, Kennedy Onwunali, have declared that the inability to include Swan members in the Loc Mina The longtime contribution of the association to sports development and dispersed the role of crucial of sports journalism in national sports affairs.

They therefore invited the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the government of the ENGUGH state A, by urgency, to review the composition of the Committee and include SWAN representatives to guarantee a balanced, inclusive and transparent approach to the organization of the 23rd National Sports Festival.
