Police Arrest

Police operations in the highlands have arrested 22 people in connection with the murder of 12 wedding guests in the regional government area in the state.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, revealed this in a statement on Saturday in JOS

The victims traveling from Zaria, Kaduna state, to the qua’an pan lga for a wedding ceremony when their bus was attacked by angry hordes around 10:00 pm on Friday.

The attackers also burned the bus

According to Alabo, 21 passengers currently receive treatment at hospitals in the area.

He said: “On June 20, 2025 at around 09:47 at night, the Credible State Police Command received a credible intelligence that a bus carrying several passengers from Zaria, Kaduna state was attacked by several angry gangs in Mangun Village, the Mangu Regional Government area.

“After receiving this intelligence, the Police Commissioner, the Plateau state command, immediately directed the division police officers, the Mangu Division, to mobilize men and quickly compete to the scene.

“When we reach the scene, our people, working with other security agents, quickly disperse anger and saved twenty-one (21) victims and took them to the hospital, where they currently receive treatment.

“After conducting our initial investigation, it was revealed that the victims were travelers from Zaria, the state of Kaduna, who was on his way to Quan’pan LGA to attend a wedding ceremony when they were lost.

“Their vehicles are illegally stopped by angry and burned mobs. As a result of this unfavorable incident, some passengers lost their lives, while seven people suffered various levels of injury.

“In the appearance of courage, our people, working with other security agents, are able to save fourteen (14) people who are not injured.”
