Ondo to punish the kidnapper with the death penalty

The Government of Ondo State has proposed a death penalty for kidnappers in the state.

The Attorney General for State and the State Commissioner for Judiciary, Kayode Ajulo (SAN), stated this to the media briefing after the State Executive Council meeting on Saturday at Akure.

He said the facilities used by the kidnapper for crime would be destroyed.

Commissioners said the State Council Board would review the Anti-Children’s Law to include the death penalty for the kidnapper.

He said the state government was also worried about a series of cults in the state and would overcome the situation.

Ajulo said: “The Governor, being a lover of the rule of law, will not run as it is done in other states without following the legal proceedings needed.

“We must know that we have investors who come to the state, and as part of these steps, we must ensure that we encourage them that they and their investments are safe.”
