Arsenal teenage sensation Max Dowman has been awarded three official Guinness World Records certificates after a remarkable season which saw him rewrite three major age-related milestones in English and European football.
The 16-year-old winger received the certificates from Guinness World Records adjudicator Caitlin Hyem at Arsenal’s training ground, following a record-breaking 2025/26 season which saw him establish himself as one of the most exciting young talents in world football. Project reports
Dowman’s three records include youngest player to play in the UEFA Champions League, youngest goalscorer in Premier League history and youngest player to win the Premier League.
Guinness World Records confirmed the recognition as part of the launch of its 2027 Football Edition, with Dowman also named in its “Class of ’27” selection of 30 outstanding emerging men’s and women’s football talents.
The Champions League record
Dowman’s first major record came in November 2025, when he came on as a substitute during Arsenal’s 3–0 away win over Slavia Prague in the Champions League.
At 15 years and 308 days, he became the youngest player to ever take part in the competition.
Guinness World Records said Dowman remains the only 15-year-old to have played in the Champions League, underlining the exceptional nature of his rise to senior football.
His appearance came just a few months after his senior Arsenal debut, when he came off the bench against Leeds United and became the second youngest player in Premier League history.
That record, however, belongs to his Arsenal teammate Ethan Nwaneri, who made his Premier League debut even younger.
The youngest goalscorer in the Premier League
Dowman later added another record to his name with a memorable goal against Everton on 14 March 2026.
The teenager scored in injury time during Arsenal’s 2-0 win after making a stunning run from inside his own half before finishing into an empty net.
He was 16 years and 73 days old at the time, making him the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history.
According to Guinness World Records, Dowman surpassed the previous record of 16 years and 270 days, set by former Everton striker James Vaughan more than two decades earlier.
The goal was particularly significant in Arsenal’s title campaign as the victory helped the Gunners maintain their push for the Premier League crown.
The youngest Premier League winner
Dowman completed his historic treble as Arsenal were crowned Premier League champions for the first time since 2004.
He received a winners’ medal at 16 years and 144 days, making him the youngest footballer to ever win the Premier League.
The teenager thus surpassed the previous record held by Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, who won the title at just over 17 years old.
Arsenal secured the championship after Manchester City drew 1-1 against Bournemouth, ending the Gunners’ 22-year wait for the English top-flight title.
Dowman made 13 senior appearances during the season, contributing to Arsenal’s historic title-winning season despite his tender age.
Recognizing a rising star
Guinness World Records senior editor Tom Beckerlegge described Dowman’s achievement as extraordinary, especially because the teenager had already amassed three world records before his 17th birthday.
“He’s the youngest player on our roster,” Beckerlegge said when discussing Dowman’s inclusion in the 2027 Football Edition.
The Arsenal youngster was selected alongside some of football’s biggest emerging stars, including Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Manchester City midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi and Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
Dowman’s rapid development continued into the 2026/27 season.
In September, he scored a brace during Arsenal’s 4–2 Carabao Cup win against Ipswich Town, further demonstrating his ability to make an impact despite being just 16.
His appearance also generated considerable attention over his future at Arsenal, with manager Mikel Arteta gradually integrating the youngster into the senior team.
For Arsenal, Dowman’s development represents another product of the club’s prestigious Hale End academy, which has also produced the likes of Bukayo Saka and Nwaneri.
At an age when many players still compete exclusively in youth football, Dowman has already played in the Premier League and Champions League, won the English top flight title and collected three Guinness World Records.
And with his 17th birthday still ahead of him, the teenager has plenty of time to add to what is already an impressive list of accomplishments.
