Kenneth Okonkwo denied betraying Obi, advocating the term six years for the President

Former Spokesperson for the Presidential Party Presidential Campaign, Kenneth Okonkwo has denied claims of disability to the party presidential candidates in the 2023 election, Peter Obi.

He insisted that leaving the party was transparent and principled, not betrayal.

Speaking in Channels’ television week politics, Okonkwo responded to what he described as a subtle satire from the former Governor of the State Anambra who suggested he was not loyal to the purpose of the Labor Party.

“When I worked for him, I never consulted with any politician, I never talked with any political party. I was 100 percent loyal, not 99,” Okonkwo said firmly.

“When I left, I told the whole world. I said, from now on and so on, I will not talk to this person anymore.”

Ignoring the advice of nonsense, the Nollywood actor added: “They don’t understand what betrayal means. Anyone who wrote anything to me is a reflection of whom that person is, not a reflection of who I am.”

Now a member of the newly formed national opposition coalition group (NOCG), Okonkwo is part of the political alignment that tries to challenge the leadership of the Tinubu Ball President and re -establish Nigerian political structures in 2027.

The Group has submitted an application to the Independent National Election Commission (INEC) to register a new party, Alliance All Democratic (ADA).

Rejecting the idea of zoning party ticket zoning along the regional path, Okonkwo insisted that the northern and southern candidates would be free to compete for tickets.

“Nobody will stop anyone from fighting for presidential tickets in the coalition, there is no,” he said.

He further argues that zoning, in current conditions, can inflame rather than resolving national tension.

Instead, he advised the term of office of president six years, stating that it could reduce political manipulation and regional complaints.

“Politicians have shown very difficult to trust them,” Okonkwo said.

“If you say someone from the south will do four years but then perform badly like Tinubu, what next? North will call it injustice if other southern people remain eight years. We need to dispose of tickets and let the best candidates appear.”

In spicy criticism, Okonkwo called the Tinubu government as “the worst in the history of Nigeria,” by saying it has deepened national suffering more than even the controversial period of former President of Muhammadu Buhari.

“I never believed that the government would surpass Buhari’s failure, but Tinubu had done that,” he said.

He specifically condemned administrative decisions to float Naira without stabilizing the main economic fundamentals. “Floating Naira is a terrible thing to do. We should strengthen our currency by increasing exports, not opening the floodgates for the collapse driven by imports.”

The coalition that appears is a mixture of familiar names and fresh alliances. Led by former Senate President David Mark, the group also included former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, among other influential political actors.
