Court of Lagos prison 17 Chinese citizens for cyber-terrorism …

The High Federal Court sitting in Ikoyi, in the state of Lagos, Monday 23 June 2025, sentenced 17 Chinese citizens to a captivity for one year each for cyber-terrorism and fraud on the Internet.

This followed the arrangement of Chinese citizens from the Commission for economic and financial crimes (EFCC) with a separate charge of computer terrorism and fraud on the Internet in February 2025.

They were among the union of 792 alleged investments in cryptocurrency and suspicions of romantic fraud arrested in Lagos on December 19, 2024, during a sting operation by EFCC agents.

One of the accusations recited: “What you, Yu Hui, (Aka A.bin), Huang Jin Hui, Fei Fan, LU QIANG, HU XI ZHENG, SUN ZHI PENG, WU HAO, Cong Bing, Li Qiang (Aka Yang Huan), Zheng Wei (Aka. Hong), Cheng, from Wen, Zhi, Zhang.

Chinese citizens initially declared themselves “not guilty” of the favorite accusations against them.

However, during Monday’s session, they all changed their “not guilty of guilt”.

The accusation consultant, Nneemeka Omewa, Us Kyari and Bmisah, informed the court of the plea bargain stipulated by the defendants.

By responding, the defender agreed with the accusation presentations and asked the courts to accept the same.

Justices Deosiagor and Justice of Dipeolu sentenced and sentenced each of the defendants to a year of imprisonment, starting from the date of arrest on 10 December 2025, with a fine in the sum of N1,000,000.

The judges directed the general immigration controller to ensure that the prisoners are repatriated in their country of origin within seven days.

The judges also ordered that cell phones, computers, laptops and routers seized them at the time of arrest were confiscated from the federal government.
