The star of Borussia Dortmund’s midfield, Felix Nmecha, has revealed that when he was a child his desire was to play for the Nigerian national team, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.
The 24 -year -old who is now a complete senior international for Germany announced this in the Club World Cup, where he is currently one of the best artists of the German team.
His international future would have taken a completely different turn if it were his desire when he was a child, but said that despite his decision to play for Germany, he still has a very strong affiliation to Nigeria and supports the team every time they play.
“Definitely, when I was very young, it was actually the first time I wanted to play because I remember that the first shirt I had was from Obafemi Martins and obviously was also Nigerian. So that Nigerian shirt had in mind,” he said in a video available for our editorial team.
“Obviously, now it has gone in this direction that I am playing for Germany, but I still feel connected to the country. As when it is the AFCon and things that always support, of course and is good.”
