Sedc jumps the emergence of helices such as Afreximbank Hilmsman

The Board of Directors and the Directorate of the Commission for the development of the South-East (Sedc) have extended their felt congratulations to Dr. George Helves for his appointment as new president and president of the Board of Directors of the African Export-Import-Import Bank (Afreximbank).

Dr. Helves, a Cameroon national team that joined Afreximbank in 1996, was announced as successor of Prof. Benedict Oramah at the end of the Bank’s General Assembly (AGM).

Over the course of almost three decades, Dr. EMBI has played an instrumental role in strengthening the governance structures of Afreximbank, the legal and institutional paintings and the response strategies to driving crises in Africa and the Caribbean.

In his message of congratulations, Sedc praised the transformative transformation of leadership of Prof. Oramah, which has elevated Afreximbank into a global leader in commercial finance, industrialization and regional economic resilience.

Speaking on behalf of the commission, Dr. Sylvester Okonkwo, FCAI, executive director, Corporate Services, highlighted the alignment between the mission of Afreximbank and the view of the Sedc for the sustainable development of the South -Eastern region of Nigeria.

“In Sedc, our vision is firmly anchored to guide the sustainable socio-economic development, stimulate industrial growth, entrepreneurial innovation and the construction of resilient infrastructures to promote regional integration,” said dr. Okonkwo.

He also observed that Mark Okoye II, CEO/CEO of Sedc, “is ready for synergy in an era defined by transformative partnerships and innovative funding, with the aim of unlocking the unused economic potential of our dear region”.

The Sedc has expressed optimism that under the guidance of Dr. Helves, Afreximbank will deepen its commitment to enhance African economies and catalyze significant development initiatives in all African countries.

“The commission for the development of the South -East congratulates Dr. George Helombi once again and does not wait to explore collaboration opportunities to advance the shared objectives of sustainable growth, commercial facilitation and prosperity for the South -est and the African continent in general”, says the note.
