Former vice -president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar invited the federal government to intervene urgently in worsening the security situation in the local government area of Isa in the state of Sokoto.
In an X post, Atiku said that terrorism quickly spread throughout the country and represented a serious threat to the unity of Nigeria.
He wrote: “The growing terrorism that afflicts various parts of Nigeria requires an intensified government action.
“In addition to the tragic loss of lives, these acts sow distrust seeds, threatening the unity of our nation.”
He said that Isa’s residents were sending a rescue request to ask for help and urged the government and security agencies to act before the situation worsened.
Read it: “The people of the area of the local government of Isa in the state of Sokoto are urgently attractive for the intervention of the government to protect their lives and their properties.
“This is a SOS and an early warning for the government and the security agencies to act proactively.”
He added that unity and solidarity were the key to defeating terrorism.
“Our greatest strength against terrorism is not in the barrels of pistols but in the unfortunate link of our collective unity. Together, we can reject the scourge of terrorism,” said Atiku.
