The Minister of State for Defense, dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, has officially revealed a fleet of compressed natural gas vehicles (CNG) for the armed forces of Nigeria, marking a significant step towards energy reform within military operations.
The commissioning ceremony, held at the Cantonment of Mogishu in Abuja, reflects the wider strategy of clean energy of the federal government under the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Tuesday Matawalle, in a declaration signed by his personal assistant in the Ahmad Dan-Wudil media, described the initiative as a courageous step for innovation, energy efficiency and the reduction of operating costs in the logistics of the defense of the nation.
“This is more than new vehicles,” he said. “It is a transformation of our military into a model of innovation and sustainability.”
The Minister of Defense said that the methane initiative would reduce dependence on fossil fuels, would reduce carbon emissions and supported Nigeria’s commitment to global climatic objectives.
Accompanied by the best defense officials, including the permanent secretary Ambassador Gabriel Aduda and the head of the general defense staff Christopher Musa, the minister visited the methane fleet and even guided one of the vehicles.
He added that the new vehicles would bring savings on long -term costs and environmental benefits, while increasing morality and ability within the army.
The minister urged the rapid establishment of methane supply stations through military formations to ensure the continuous functioning of the clean energy fleet.
He also underlined the importance of developing the technical ability between military personnel to maintain and effectively manage methane vehicles.
Among the dignitaries present were the lawyer Ismael Ahmad, executive president of the presidential CNG initiative, together with high military officers and stakeholders in the energy sector.
Matawalle has ensured the Nigerians that the military remains committed to defeating the insurrection and that President Tinubu will continue to support all security efforts.
He invited citizens to keep the armed forces in their prayers and reiterated the government’s commitment to a cleaner, stronger and safer Nigeria.
