The federal government on Wednesday urged the administration of President Donald Trump in the United States to reconsider its vision restrictions on the Nigerians.
The US government on Tuesday has revised the visa reciprocity schedule for the Nigerians.
Washington in a notification reduces the validity of a certain visa category to only three months and limits them to enter single.
In a statement issued in Abuja by a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Kimebi Ebienfa, a federal government, described the policy as “unfair and disproportionate.”
The federal government expressed its concern for the development, given the historical bond between the two countries.

The US government has announced a revision of a visa reciprocal schedule for the Nigerians, reduces the validity of certain non-immigrant visas-like the B1/B2 category (business and tourism), F (students), and J (visitors to exchange)-become only three months and limit them to single entry.
The statement reads: “The decision seemed not in harmony with the principles of reciprocity, justice, and respect that had to guide bilateral involvement between friendly countries.
“While recognizing the sovereign rights of each country to determine immigration policies, Nigeria respectfully urges the United States to reconsider this decision in the spirit of partnership, cooperation, and sharing global responsibilities.”
