A man beats his wife to death for not cooking food

The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, for allegedly killing his 20-year-old wife in Angwan Yahaya, Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of ​​the state.

The Command in a statement from its Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, said that the tragic incident left behind two children—a boy and a girl—from their six-year marriage.

The command stated that the incident occurred on Sunday, at around 12:30 p.m., and a complaint was filed with the Agyaragu Police Division alleging that the suspect had assaulted his wife, resulting in her death.

“On receipt of the report, Divisional Police Officers immediately deployed patrol personnel to the scene of the incident, where the victim was evacuated to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia, for medical examination and preservation.”

Based on the statement, the suspect was immediately arrested and, during interrogation, allegedly confessed to the crime, adding that he acted out of anger after the deceased allegedly refused to prepare food.

It was stated that as a result there was an argument which escalated into a physical altercation which ultimately resulted in his death.

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Mohammed, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for thorough, judicious and expeditious investigation.

The Police Commissioner assured the public that justice will be served and the suspect will be arraigned in court once investigations are completed.

He strongly condemned all forms of domestic violence, describing such incidents as tragic and avoidable, urging couples and family members to engage in dialogue, patience and legitimate means of resolving disputes, stressing that no misunderstanding is worth the loss of human life.
