2027: Gov Makinde said the ADC coalition promoter did not bring new things to the table

When political discussions about the potential coalition increased around the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Governor of the State of Oyo Seyi Seyi Makinde had confirmed that those behind were not new on the table, because they had become part of the existing political parties.

He reiterated the unity and strength of the Democratic Party (PDP) in the Southwest, describing the party as an eternal institution that could not be threatened by the alliance or defense.

Speaking to journalists on Friday after the Southwest PDP Caucus meeting at the Zonal Party Secretariat in Ibadan, Governor Makinde rejected speculation that the recent coalition was reported to be a threat to the stability of PDP in the region.

“PDP in the southwest united and not divided,” he said. “The coalition called us is not a threat to us. Those in which have become part of other political parties in the past, both PDP or APC. What new things they brought to the table?”

Makinde stressed that PDP remains the only credible alternative for the Nigerians, stating that party leaders in the Southwest have decided to remain in the party and overcome internal challenges, rather than seeking protection in other places.

Using a metaphor, he said: “This Soji Adagunodo house is for Southwest PDP. If the roof leaks, as responsible leaders, we will not leave it. We will fix it.”

A communication issued at the end of the meeting stated that the Southwest Leadership of the PDP away from any political coalition, reiterated his loyalty to the National Work Committee (NWC) of the party and the commitment to the unity and progress of the PDP at all levels.

The Caucus also promised to intensify mobilization efforts for the selection of the next selection in Oyo and Ogun countries, as well as the Lagos Regional Government election, expressed confidence in the strength of party elections throughout the region.

In a strong reprimand of the federal government, PDP leaders demanded an immediate exemption of Osun regional government allocation, describing its continuous deduction as “non -constitutional and violation of the rights of the Osun people.”

Communike also highlighted the greater concern about the worsening of insecurity and economic difficulties under the government of the Congress of All Progressive (APC), repeating the position of the previous Governor Makinde that the 2027 General Election would eventually become a contest between the people of Nigeria and APC.

“PDP remains a party of choice,” Caucus stated, urged the Nigerians not to lose hope but to unite behind the PDP in its mission to save the country from a mistake.
