Sanwo-Ole praised for supporting gender equality at the end of 2025 Powa Convention

The Governor of the State of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Oell, was recognized as a champion for gender equality as the 2025 national convention of the Wives Association (Powa) ended in Lagos.

The three -day event, focused on strategic commitment and Empowerment, was highlighted by the evolution role of women in leadership and social transformation.

At the event, the governor’s commitment to the women’s empowerment was praised by his representative, the secretary of the state government, the Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin lawyer.

He reminded the participants that Sanwo-Oell was the first state leader in Nigeria to win the United Nations Prize Heforshe, an international honor that celebrates the male gender equality champions.

The convention, which the National President Poda, Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, described as a “sensational success”, culminated in a lively race of talents and a celebratory dinner.

The competition showed the different skills of the Powa members from all 17 areas of the association, with everything, from the presentations of language and from the cultural dances to Pageantry.

The lawyer Salu-Hundeyin praised the leadership and passion of Mrs. Egbetokun, who according to her constantly reflected excellence and love.

He encouraged women to carry on this spirit, stressing that they have constantly demonstrated their ability to overcome expectations in every field.

The event, which brought together the members of Powa in a showcase of unity and creativity, did not only concern entertainment, but a platform to strengthen shared values and promote personal development.

Participants were invited to report lessons and energy from the Lagos Convention to their respective states to contribute significantly to national development
