NYSC clarifying the certificate of certificate of Ushie Rita Corps Member Certificate

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has denied viral social media claiming that a member of the corps, Ushie Rita Uguamaye (LA/24B/8325 State Code), was rejected by his National Service Certificate (CNS) for making critical comments about the government.

In a statement on its official page, NYSC described the accusation as “fully unfounded and wrong as a whole,” insisted on the action was based on “valid discipline reasons” and not politically encouraged.

According to the scheme, Ms. Ushie is one of 131 corps members whose certificates are detained for various violations. In his case, the NYSC said his service year was extended for two months because he failed to attend a biometric cleaning exercise April 2025, a violation that could be punished under the NYSC bye-Laws.

“This extension is a standard procedure and is not unique to the case. The same principle of treatment is applied as in all the same situations,” the statement explained.

Management urges the public to assess the problem objectively and “avoid politicization,” notes that extension for such non -compliance has become an old tradition in the scheme operation.

“NYSC remains committed to releasing its mandate in line with the constitutional dictate,” added the statement, while reaffirming the promise for justice, discipline, and slogan guidelines: Nigeria is ours; Nigeria we serve.
