Ken Paxton, Attorney General Texas, has launched an investigation into the AI chatbot business character and the meta platform. AI overclaim that they make a statement “misleading or cheating” about the capacity of their platforms to offer mental health assistance.

Investigations will see whether the company exaggerates how well their technology discusses mental health problems, which can make customers vulnerable to risk, according to Paxton’s office.

Is the platform implies that the interaction moved by AI can replace or complete licensed professional care is anticipated as the main focus of the investigation.

According to Paxton, Ai Chatbots on both platforms “can present themselves as professional therapy tools,” even as far as their credentials. This kind of action can describe younger people on wrong and misleading information.

“The characters made by users on our site are fiction; they are intended for entertainment, and we have taken strong steps to clarify,” said a spokesman for the character. He said when asked to comment on the Texas investigation. “For example, we have a prominent information in every chat to remind users that characters are not real people and that everything that is said by a character must be treated as fiction.”

Meta shares similar sentiments in her comments. “We clearly label AIS, and to help people better understand their limitations, we include the information that the response is produced by AI – not people,” the company said. Meta Ais should also “direct the user to find medical professionals or safety that meet the requirements if necessary.” Sending people to real resources is good, but in the end the information itself is easily ignored and does not act as many obstacles.
