Amavubi in Rwanda Amavubi date to hit the Nigeria for the qualifier of the FIFA World Cup of 2026

The Rwanda delegation at the FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Saturday 2026 against Nigeria will arrive in Lagos on Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday in Lagos it will be in Lagos, but the complete delegation will land in Lagos on Tuesday aboard a flight by the Rwandair airline at 1.15 pm and will proceed to Uyo, the capital of the state of Akwa Ibom by 16:00 on the same day.

The match of the Matchday 7 has become very crucial for both teams as they are both wide from the leaders of the South Africa group, which have 13 points (before the Fifa decision on the use of a player who is not admissible in the victory over Lesotho in March of this year). The Rwanda is second in the pool with eight points, like Benin Republic, with Nigeria in fourth in seven points.

Lesotho has 6 points, with the Zimbabwe who placed the table on four points.

While the world still awaits Fifa’s decision, Nigeria and Rwanda will go for the mutual jugular to be appropriately positioned to benefit from Bafana Bafana’s error. Crocodiles will skip at 9 points if South Africa is penalized for their infringement.

The rendering of Saturday’s accounts at Godswill Akpabio Stadium arrives five months and two weeks after the Super Eagles defeated the Amavubi 2-0 in the latter’s house in Kigali in a meeting of the day 5.

They come also nine months and two weeks after an inspired Amavubi arrived from behind to defeat the Super Eagles 2-1 in a qualifying match of the last day of 2025 at the same Godswill Akpabio stadium. Unfortunately for Amavubi, the victory did not earn the qualification, since Benin Republic took the second ticket from the group behind Nigeria, after having drawn with Libya in Tripoli.

While the Amavubi have an appointment with the Zimbabwe at the bottom of the day of Matchday 8, the Super Eagles must fly to Bloemfontein to face the leaders of the group in South Africa.
