By Fred Abua

The deputy governor of Cross River State, his excellence Rt. Hon. Peter Agbe Odey, Phd, has just concluded a five-day official tour through the five areas of the local government of the Northern Cross River-Bekwarra, Obanliku, Obudu, Ogoja and Yala. The tour, held in commemoration of their new Yam festivals of 2025, a dear tradition in these areas of the local agricultural government, was not only a cultural visit, but it was empathy in action, a government willing to listen before acting.

With a coherent message, “I came to celebrate the new break with you and listen, so the government can meet your actual needs”, dr. Odey moved from community to community, palace to palace, playground to play land, not with empty promises, but with real interventions and tangible impacts.

While over #150 million has committed himself to supporting the cultural celebrations in the five LGA, the deputy governor has brought more than a good will. It has provided interventions that change the life of the value of over #250 million, facing the needs of the main community: ultra -modern wells for clean water, agricultural inputs, job opportunities for young people and local development projects.

In Obudu, for example, he immediately responded to a request from Utukalu women donating ₦ 5 million fertilizers and pesticides. It was a practical and timely response to an urgent agricultural need.

Wherever he visited, traditional sovereigns, critical interested parties, groups of young people, women and people who live with disabilities welcomed him warmly, expressing gratitude not only for the immediate support, but for the visible impact of the Senator Prince Bassey Otu-LeD Degle-Led Advention-In particular in the rural infrastructure, in the rural infrastructure, in the rural infrastructure, In rural infrastructure, in rural infrastructure, in the creation of rural work.

However, the constant refrain was: “We want more”. But this was not a complaint. It was a sign of trust, the belief that the government is truly “people before” and able to offer beyond their expectations.

Often underestimated due to his slight behavior, Dr. Peter Odey is a man of deep ability, completely prepared for leadership. With a background in law, sociology, international relations and conflict management, gate depth and intellect to leadership. His journey, from the basic development work in the NGO sector to a high -level public service, was led by a singular mission: building his people.

And during this tour, it was never alone. He was accompanied by a delegation of political leaders and stakeholders Northern Cross River, a strong signal of continuous units, respect and shared vision.

Among his entourage was Lgas who represented Obudu Bekwarra and Obanliku in the Chamber of Federal Representatives, the Hon. Chapter Peter Akpanke, president of the Council of Lgas, president of the State of the party, Alfonsus Eba, in the service and former members of the Cross State House of Assembly, in the service and former commissioners, special councilors, general directors and other high government officials.
