Armed people are suspected to be kidnappers on Friday killing eight Nigerian Security and Civil Corps (NSCDC) officers in the state of Edo.
Four officers were seriously injured, and one Chinese citizen was kidnapped in the attack, which occurred in Okpella.
NSCDC National Public Relations Officer, Mr. Afolabi Babawale, said in a statement on Saturday that the operators were mobilized to provide security for expatriates attached to the cement company in the area.

He added that the team convoy was ambushed by a very large armed man during a routine patrol.
“The workforce, commitment, and patriotism displayed by our operations will be forever remembered.
“The corps stood tall with their family at this time of sadness.”
“Commander General condemned the attack firmly, ensuring that NSCDC, in collaboration with other security institutions, was combing forests in East Etsako to save kidnapped expatriates and arrest the perpetrators.
“The corps remains unwavering in the legal mandate to protect critical national assets and infrastructure.
“This coward attack will not prevent us from carrying out our duties,” the statement said.
