The Nigerian Oil and Gas Workers Union (Nupeng) has insisted that they will begin national strikes on Monday, September 8, 2025, for what is described as the alleged management of dangote refineries that foster the practice of exploitative workers who remind modern slavery.
The decision to continue the industrial action contained in a statement on Sunday signed by President Nupeng, Williams Akporeha, and Secretary General, Afolabi Olumi.
The previous union announced the strike last Friday, quoting alleged anti-employment practices by refineries.
However, the oil tanker driver (PTD) replied to the strike notification that described it as “insensitive”.
Likewise, the direct truck driver association also opposed the strike planned by Nupeng, away from the union position.
Reacting, Nupeng rejected DTCDA’s attitude, rejecting the group as a creation supported by management aimed at damaging unity and influence of petroleum tanker drivers.

He claimed that DTCDA was only a recruitment front that was established to manage 10,000 imported CNG trucks.
The Union rejected DTCDA as an invalid and invalid body without standing to represent the driver of an oil tanker.
The statement was read in part, “For public information, DTCDA is an association formed by a group of dangote companies for drivers to join compulsory, rather than allowing drivers to join Nupeng which is a union that is legally recognized that is united to unite the petroleum tanker driver.
“The signing of the DTCDA statement, one Enoch Kanawa, was a lawyer, not a tanker driver. Enoch Kanawa signed the statement as DTCDA president. The media must ask Kanawa when the DTCDA was formed and when his election as president was carried out.
