Two goals in three games: Rodgers explains why Iheanacho is special after another goal for Celtic

The chief coach of the Scottish team, Celtic Brendan Rodgers has praised the impact of Nigeria’s international striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, since he joined the club in a free transfer on the side of LaLiga Sevilla, reports Owngoalnigeria.com.

Iheanacho joined his goals for the club by scoring his only goal in the 1-1 draw against FK Crvena Zvezda in the Europa League, just out of last week’s assistance against Patrick Thistle in a 4-0 victory.

He began his period in the club with a goal from the place that helped them a 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock in the League. Until now he has made a goal contribution in each game he has played for the team, to delight Rodgers, who pressed for his signature.

“I thought Kels entered was very, very good for us,” the coach who worked with Iheanacho in Leicester City explained after the game.

“We needed someone centrally to hold the ball. I felt that we reached the final third in the first half and then we were loose with the ball or did not hold the ball.

“It is one of Kels’s great strengths. You can wear the ball, you can use your body well and obviously allows you to progress through the field. So it gave us a really better platform in the second half.”
