Trading Exhibition: IGBO traders lamented the demolition of 19 buildings, accusing the Lagos government of targeting them

Traders and entrepreneurs from the Southeast Region have shouted after the Lagos state government destroyed 19 buildings in the new Mandela Plaza in the popular trade exhibition complex.

The demolition that took place on Thursday under tight security that watched the convoy of trucks from the Lagos State Task Force, Fast Response Squad, and other tactical teams placed around the Plaza, causing lamenting by the owners of Plaza and traders who said that they were targeted by the Lagos government and strong Yoruba businessmen.

A video from the demolition exercise distributed on the social media platform, shows the excavators dropped the building, some of which were high -rise floor buildings that were reduced to debris in a matter of hours.

However, the demolition of buildings does not match the owners and other traders who believe that they are targeted too much.

Plaza demolition also triggered anger on social media with many commentators insisting that the exercise was intended to paralyze the IGBO traders and businesses in Lagos which was a clear sign that IGBOS had to leave the country.

“Ndi Igbo, how is the market? Invest in your land, you say no, I don’t want to see tears in one of you.

@_Okezie:
“In a country with a high unemployment rate, the only person who provides this job, you continue to destroy their business and buildings. Nigeria will never move forward with the current events.”

@Eze_anajekwu:
“The same trade exhibition of the federal government was abandoned for many years until IGBOS came there and gave him grades. Now the Lagos S5tate government has claimed that the structure we built suddenly caused a flood of lagos.”

@ammr_josh:
“90% of these buildings are owned by IGBO, and guess, they legally buy this land, get the government’s permission to build this structure for business purposes. This is the same trade show that is dimlygwu Ojukwu warns IGBO in Lagos about not investing or developing.”

@Transparen70:
“My advice to IGBO traders to invest in your state, makes your state head office and most of your storage facilities in the east.
Create distribution branches in other states such as lagos and semi warehouse. Clean your items from Onne. Onne Port is very functional now. “

@ufiuzonnu:
“There is something that is not true about lagos and how to treat its inhabitants. Even Pharaoh, with all the strengths of carrying out restraints. I am forced to believe that this random demolition is calculated and targeted along the tribal line.”

@Phillips:
“What is not true is the behavior of Nzogbu Nzogbu where a man believes he can bribe is the way through any problem, this is always the most often the result they are warned but they will continue and compromise some staff as soon as they are transferred they will take action.”

@Lydmmore:
“This is really madness! Are they going to be compensated? Aren’t they getting the consent to build before building? Wetin Una Dey looking for going immediately.”

@Mimijaja4us:
“Sanwo-Olu and Tinubu are very evil **. They will wait for poor traders to waste billions of buildings, when the building is finished, they come to destroy. Who gave approval for the building? I saw the paper agreement. Why were they not destroyed at the foundation level?”

@Madewale:
“It is very sad that the money obtained by the people here is wasted, but it is also an indicator of violating community law. To be fair, people who give approval must lose their jobs.”

@Babz9ja:
“Nobody established a structure like this without approval. Who approved construction in the first place? Lcda? This is a crime.”

@Chimaob:
“What is the business of the state government of the state in the trade exhibition complex approved by the federal government?”

@Xthercares:
“This is a newly built building, Ooo, people obtained with difficulty. Sometimes I ask myself how these people survive after the government destroys their livelihoods and investments because I know what the meaning of building a house.”

@Lateefkenny:
“Imagine what investors think about government actions that should prevent development from occurring in the first place. The lattidence of the government is detrimental to individuals and companies to lose their investment.”
