A prominent defense group based in Abuja, Vanguard for credible representation (VCR), has issued a severe warning for oil and senior staff of the natural gas association of Nigeria (Pengassan) and Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (Nupeng), warning the unions against actions that could interrupt economic stability and safety energy in the country.
Citing unacceptable risks for the stability and development of Nigeria, the executive director of the group, AkinLoye Ollusgun Oyeniyi, in a press release on Monday, also urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the controversy on the compressed natural gas compressed of Dangote (CNG).
“We combine ourselves with other Nigerians all over the world, to pray to you to find a way within your statutory powers, to resolve this controversy. Your threat of oil interruption, the safety of energy place unacceptable risks for the stability of Nigeria and therefore not acceptable for us,” said Oyeniyi.
The group stressed that the investment of the polite refinery in the policy of self-conference powered by methane, which has unleashed the last problem, is not only crucial for the search for Nigeria for self-sufficiency and energy occupation, but also aligns with global decarbonisation trends.
The group also appealed to the president Tinubu to mediate between the refinery of dance and unions, balancing the legitimate interests of workers with national energy security needs and economic progress; By warning that the Union’s intransigance could force the president to invoke statutory powers to protect Nigeria citizens.
“We implemented the president to unfold the leadership and the statesman on this matter now and if the unions are unable to resolve the dispute friendly, we urge the president Tinubu to consider the invocation of section 1, the subsection 1 of the law on disputes of the operations (essential services), giving them power to prohibit the unions that endanger the essential services such as petroleum.” Oyeniyi said.
“Nigeria will not tolerate the actions that endanger its economic jugular”, warned Pengassan, Nupeng and associated bodies, warning that the pursuit of “selfish agends harmful to national interest” could induce the Nigerians to seek a legal appeal beyond the intervention of the government. The prospects of the energy experts underline the critical role of the refinery of dance in the energy scene of Nigeria, with the interested parties that urge regulatory supervision to prevent monopoly concerns while protecting consumers.
The declaration ends with the expectations that the president Tinubu acts decisively and that the unions demonstrate patriotism to avoid the crisis, underlining that Nigeria’s energy future cannot be guaranteed in disputes.
On Monday, Pengassan started his strike by the doors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), headquarters of Midstream Nigerian and oil regulation authority in Valle (Nmdpra) and Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC),
On Saturday Pengassan had defined his branch affiliates to close the instruments for alleged mass dismissal of workers for joining the union. Subsequently, Pengassan accused the management of the refinery of dance and petrochemicals of the transfer of its members, including Nigerian engineers, to other branches in an attempt to weaken its presence in the structure.
